Filipinos, for the Nth time...

Bisaya is not a dialect.

Cebuano is a language
Bisaya is a language
Tagalog is a language
Ilokano is a language
Hiligaynon is a language (Ilonggo refers to the people)

But, Batangenyo is a dialect of Tagalog. Boholano and Bisaya are dialects of Cebuano.

When someone from Davao (Bisaya) speaks to someone from Cebu (Cebuano), they will still understand each other. Why? Because they speak the same LANGUAGE.

(Today is Dutch Liberation Day)

After my request for help learning Cantonese, I've got stuck into Mango Languages. I don't think it will still be free for me after 2 weeks but it's a good length for a trial.

My next question is, how does one go about practising tones? Is it mainly listening and recognising the tones that will later help me with speaking?

I'm expecting it to take a long time but that's what I love about learning new things.
