Des remèdes de l'une et l'autre Fortune : traduction de Pétrarque par un auteur rouennais vers 1503. Plusieurs magnifiques enluminures pleines pages illustrent les chapitres de l'ouvrage avec notamment la représentation de la Fortune prospère et adverse, devant la roue qui tourne. Image riche et complexe !

f°1 du manuscrit Français 225 de la BnF. Enluminure qui occupe toute la page, encadrée d'un cadre doré. On voit une femme vêtue de rouge, les yeux bandés, la peau noire (à droite) et blanche (à gauche), les bras étendus. Devant elle, une roue sur laquelle sont représentés différents personnages (dont des rois) qui sont entrainés par le mouvement de rotation. De part et d'autre, en bas à gauche, une femme à la peau blanche, vêtue de bleu, gris et vert et à droite, une femme à la peau grise, vêtue d'un vêtement dépenaillé marron. De chaque côté, une foule de personnages : à gauche, en couleurs et à droite, ternes. Il s'agit d'une part de la Fortune prospère (colorée) et d'autre part de la Fortune adverse (mauvaise fortune), en sombre. A l'arrière, un paysage vallonné avec une perspective atmosphérique, c'est-à-dire un dégradé de bleus.

#Doorsday bloody Doorsday ... 💀 Oh, let's go!

I am happy to report that my trip to #Augsburg last week was a treasure trove for anyone who loves #doors (aka yours truly)! I only had an hour to explore the old town, but I found so many lovely doors. So behold, here's a badass one! ☠️

This is a #door of the #Stadtmetzg. Can you guess what this listed #historicBuilding used to be? It was built in 1609 as the #butchers' guildhall! I imagine it was deemed too refined for the messy process of slaughtering (this was done in the vicinity), but it was used as a central butchery to store and distribute meat to the city's butchers, using the Lech canal underneath to cool the meat in the basement and dispose of the waste.

The site burned down in 1634 and was rebuilt. In 1720 the Academy of Art moved into the upper floors (very random, I know). With the industrialization, the Stadtmetzg was losing importance and in 1930 it permanently closed. After renovations, it was used as an administrative building by the city of Augsburg. In WWII it was severely damaged, but once again restored. Today it is still in use as an administrative building.

Sorry for the long post, there's just so much to tell. 🫣 To any Augsburgers out there: I hope I got the facts straight!

We know in Europe what is nazism about, we did fight and loose because we did wait way too much last time before fighting back strongly (every democracy defenders:liberals, moderate religious people, anarchists, communists, socialists, rational businessmen, citizens,....).

Let's hope this time european superstate, businesses and citizens will react promptly this time with strong measures against it instead of capitulating with facists trends. This requires spending what is needed and have multiparties intensive commerce to shield and protect democracy. Obeying will not help democracy.
