zeitverschreib [friendica]<p>New payload on my <a href="https://freundica.de/search?tag=gemlog" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gemlog</span></a></p><p><b>Sshhhh...don’t tell anyone</b></p><p>I have a confession to make. I never took the time to switch my various VPS to key-based login. Sure, I changed the SSH port and disabled root login, but so far I have actually relied on fail2ban and reeeeeeally long passwords.</p><p>Then I stumbled upon a very interesting blog post by Elena, which pointed my to an excellent video by Veronica. And my mind was blown!</p><p>I always thought that setting up keys and getting them to the servers was a lot of work. Turns out, it isn’t. I was done in about 30 minutes, which included watching the video twice and taking everything step by step. And keeping a proper SSH config file will make my life much more comfortable from now on.</p><p>My home-based servers will also be switch from passwords to keys soon, even though they’re not ssh-able from the outside at all.</p><p>Thanks again to Elena &amp; Veronica for the precious infos.</p><p><a href="https://news.elenarossini.com/my-so-called-sudo-life/my-so-called-sudo-life-month-8-peaches-pits/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">news.elenarossini.com/my-so-ca…</a><br><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FKsdbjzBcc" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">youtube.com/watch?v=3FKsdbjzBc…</a></p><p><span class="h-card"><a href="https://mastodon.social/users/_elena" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>_elena</span></a></span><br><span class="h-card"><a href="https://linuxmom.net/users/vkc" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>vkc</span></a></span></p><p>gemini://gemini.zeitverschreib.de/blog/2025-09-10.gmi</p><p><a href="https://freundica.de/search?tag=geminispace" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>geminispace</span></a> <a href="https://freundica.de/search?tag=gemini" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gemini</span></a></p>

Daemon Silverstein<p>I wonder when the so-called Dead Internet Theory (more of Dead Internet Eldritch Curse) first embraced the <a href="https://calckey.world/tags/fediverse" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#fediverse</a>. Because, now, <a href="https://calckey.world/tags/mastodon" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#mastodon</a> (and, by extension, all the other <a href="https://calckey.world/tags/microblogging" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#microblogging</a><span> platforms) offers this awesome feature of bots talking to other bots, so you won't miss this lovely aspect from the mainstream social media... <br><br>Didn't see it yet for </span><a href="https://calckey.world/tags/threadiverse" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#threadiverse</a><span> but I bet it happens there, too... After all, there are entire instances and communities dedicated for bots to post, so I can imagine a scenario of a bot posting a thread that happens to include a YouTube video just for the thread to be replied by that Invidious bot that goes by "I found a YouTube link in your post" and/or another automod bot.<br><br></span><a href="https://calckey.world/tags/geminispace" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#geminispace</a>, <a href="https://calckey.world/tags/gopherspace" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#gopherspace</a>, <a href="https://calckey.world/tags/tildeverse" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#tildeverse</a> and others better get ready for Dead Internet Theory, too.
