Why so sad techbro? Tariffs getting you low?

"Man, I think I picked a really difficult time to get back into manufacturing hardware."

(Eric is actually my favourite techbro, but it's kind of a low bar. And now he has a podcast. Which he daftly titled "Tick Talk", despite there already existing a product in his market space, the "TickTalk" kids smartwatch... CDO probably already being written...)

AmigaKit is now offering a CPU Boost Kit for the "A1200 NG" emulator solution for around 24 euros, which increases the performance of the board by up to 20 per cent by boosting the CPU from 1.5 GHz to 1.7 GHz. After activating the CPU boost option in the main menu, SysInfo reports around 300 MIPs (previously 250 MIPs) according to AmigaKit.

Canonical Brings Ubuntu 24.04 to Qualcomm Dragonwing Vision Kit

Canonical has announced the first official Ubuntu desktop image for the Qualcomm DragonWing platform. A beta image of Ubuntu 24.04 desktop compatible with Qualcomm Dragonwing QCS6490 and QCS5430 processors, and specifically tailored for the Qualcomm RB3 (Gen 2) Vision Kit and RB3 (Gen 2 Lite) Vision Kit is available for testing. Ubuntu 24.04 server images were previously available for the same model vision kits, so it’s the addition of desktop builds that is an interesting development. Canonical say marrying a full Ubuntu desktop experience married with “powerful AI acceleration with high-performance graphics” in the Dragonwing devices provides “a powerful development environment :sys_more_orange:

Run x86-64 games on RISC-V with felix86

If RISC-V ever manages to take off, this is going to be an important tool in RISC-V users' toolbox: felix86 is an x86-64 userspace emulator for RISC-V.

felix86 emulates an x86-64 CPU running in userspace, which is to say it is not a virtual machine like VMware, rather it directly translates the instructions of an application and mostly uses the host Li

Fabbed a GPU bracket on my lunch break, and it works quite well! The Sapphire 9070XT has three threaded inserts on the back of the card, and the case has numerous small holes along the front edge. Since the clearance was so tight (precisely 12mm) I just printed a single flat piece with two inserts and three through-holes with recesses for screw heads (one recess is missing because I thought I could put a screw through a hole in the case, through my bracket, and into the threaded insert on the GPU - but it didn't quite line up). The end result is two screws holding the bracket to the GPU, and two screws holding the bracket to the case. Since it's on the opposite end of the GPU it does an amazing job of stabilizing everything.

I even personalized the bracket a bit with a Delta symbol!
