Daniël Franke :panheart:Have been working on my first <a href="https://social.ainmosni.eu/tags/rustlang" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#rustlang</a> project for a while now, and here's some features I will greatly miss in <a href="https://social.ainmosni.eu/tags/golang" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#golang</a> when I work in that language again:<ul><li>Option/Result types: the best way I've ever worked with none types and error types.</li><li>Enums: Go does not even have simple enums, let alone something as powerful as this.</li></ul>One of the biggest learning curves for me is that I had to think much more type centric than go or other languages I've written, but it's starting to take hold and I'm really starting to like the language. Even though I still maintain it's not as easy to read as Go.

Tooling is still just stellar, even the debugger is platform-independent. 2. The language is still boring, but not without footguns. 3. Part of the problems with cool languages, such as <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/cl" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#cl</a>, <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/rust" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#rust</a> or <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/haskell" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#haskell</a> is that people often are motivated by language, but not by result. Will not happen in golang, no one will be excited by it. Don't know if it is good or bad, but certainly feels productive.
