I am begging you: if you are writing a thread of more than a couple posts, get a blog. I don’t mean this in a mean way. I mean: allow this thought to continue to exist, outside of this platform, in an actually coherent, readable format that sticks around for longer than 20 minutes. You deserve it!
P.S. If you're just starting a blog now's a great time NOT to use WordPress.anything.
@tarheel @dansinker @liztai why? Or do you mean the hosted ones?
@kojote I think they may be referring to the drama involving the founder. He's making decisions that could damage the ecosystem, so some people prefer to be cautious as they don't want to be caught with a service the founder doesn't like. But honestly, I am on wp.com and I don't give af because I can always migrate away to another provider it I want to. Right now, far too many CMS are too expensive and too proprietary for me. @tarheel @dansinker
@liztai @tarheel @dansinker I've had my own wp installation since 2006, so I really don't give much of a thought about their drama
I am referring to the drama. I also have my own wp.com instance, and moving off of it to something better is on my to-do list. I wonder how well the others do at inhaling wp's export files and how much I'll have to style/theme them if I want to.
The requirements are:
* Should function as a vade mecum
* Should play well as POSSE
* Would like to bring my domain name with me
@tarheel is it ok to RePost your criteria?
