ever since the very beginning way back when i first started this instance in late december 2023, it has always said at the very top of the about page

"this is just a humble little instance i started because the domain was miraculously cheap and i figured "why shunt fate?" let's see what this seed blossoms into..."

well here we are a year and a half later and i'm pretty goddamn proud of what this instance has become. and it's always evolving and growing! i met my best friend through this place. helped so many people by giving them a space to express themselves freely and without judgement. and just had an absolutely amazing goddamn time posting and hanging out and being on here. and i think that is absolutely fucking beautiful

because i thought it would be very funny i emailed the #fosstodon admin team offering to have the #cybersyndicate take over their instance but they didn't wanna lol

on the wildly extremely unlikely chance they'd actually said yes i was planning to make my first post as admin say "surprise! we're turning this nazi bar into a queer bar"

dot lol has recently hit 200 users!! and more than half of them active!

this is so cool. im so happy to be part of something like this, fostering community and connection in an anarchist space, something many of us desperately needed. im so much happier and more confident because of my time here and im excited for the long haul

thank you to our wonderful users for being so kind and supportive of each other and to me as well, this is an incredibly easy to moderate instance compared to a lot of the horror stories i hear. and it's because you all rock.

we've also started more activity nights, including watching movies together under the name SyndicateCinema. these nights are always so fun, and doing them on more days of the week allows more participation for those with different schedules. anyone on any instance (or not on fedi at all) is welcome!

we've had some issues with infrastructure for our other instances, dot gay and dot ???, but we expect to have it all sorted in the first half of february. thank you for being patient, and for sticking with dot gay through this mild instability. if anyone wants a dot gay account, for the Time Being just dm me or vanta and we'll create your account manually.
