My granddog is ADORABLE. I kinda want to go steal heems. #DogsOfMastodon #Husky #GSD
Nightly #GermanShepherd post: meet Asko, gone for 27 years now, but was one of the toughest, most effective instructors I ever had.
Asko was 10 and 11 generations back from the dogs in my profile photo.
Nightly #GermanShepherd post: this is Larissa, the first Assistive-Search-Alert dog I trained for an #autistic child in 2001. After graduation she volunteered to expand her job description because she was convinced all babies, of all sizes and all species, in all the world, belonged to her.
I can't really call them "nightly" #GermanShepherd posts, considering how erratic my schedule has been. But still trying. This is "Nate," who was in training to be a more conventional autism assistance dog... but by the time he was 5 months old had taught himself to be a seizure alert dog for the foster family's son, so he chose his own career. These incredible dogs are the reason I had to finish the book, "Shepherds of our Hearts."
Nightly #GermanShepherd post: meet Rory at approx 2.5wks old. He grew up to be a service dog and medical alert dog for an autistic teen boy who also had Type 1 Diabetes. He worked his job until his final day in 2019.
Our #protests outside the Chinese embassy in #WashingtonDC attract a wide variety of people, including this handsome young man. We appreciate his commitment to protesting against the Chinese government's ongoing #genocide of the Uyghurs in East Turkistan (a.k.a. #Xinjiang).
Nightly #GermanShepherd post (even though it hasn't been very "nightly" lately, I am trying!). This is "Imme," gone for many years now, around 2008 with her young client. Imme was the avatar for my dead-bird account for a lot of years, and this photo is on the back cover of my new book.
Nightly #GermanShepherd post: a tribute to the dog many Mastodon friends enjoyed photos of for a long time. On here, I called him "His Ancientness." He's been gone for 15 months now & I haven't yet stopped reaching for him, looking for him, & wishing he could still be here.
First pic: a collage of shots I've posted before. Second pic: if you look closely, you can see him, "RB," as the largest background image on the new book cover.
For tonight's comic relief & the nightly #GermanShepherd post, here's Voelker (the darker dog in my profile pic) demonstrating the proper way to carry that frisbee.
