Today is Happy Canary Islands Day! 🇮🇨☀️🌴🍹😎👍🏻🇮🇨 A day in which The Canaries celebrate their own identity. It's the only autonomous region in Spain that has got such condition and, as such, is unique on its own. They call it #Canariedad.

A feeling like no other, they would tell you those who are either born or live here. You just have to experience it yourself to understand what they meant with it. I have been living in Gran Canaria now for over 21 years and I still find it tough to describe what it is like, so better give you a glimpse of what it means to me: a paradise on earth constantly marvelling at different landmarks like the golden sand dunes of Maspalomas on a clear blue sky day watching the ocean waves hitting the beach in the horizon and a stairway hinting access to paradise for a day at the beach and more!

A "balcony" with a view

A "balcony" with a view, and what a view! 🥰👍🏻 It's not really a balcony though, but more of a fence that separates the golden sand dunes of Maspalomas from the boulevard people can stroll on a relative long distance. This is perhaps one of my favourite stops / views as it provides a minimalist view of the sand dunes, the blue ocean and the clear blue sky. No more distractions than your own thoughts marvelling at the landscape 🙌🏻😍🙌🏻

Gran Canaria, Playa del Inglés, one of my favourite views of Maspalomas sand dunes with Playa del Ingles in the foreground. A gorgeous spring day of blue skies all around with the odd cloud here and there, a bunch of bungalows (Santa Ana) with the parking lot close enough to access the golden sand beach, surrounded all by a bunch of palm trees and flamboyant trees. A feast for the eyes all the way to the back where the ocean waves hit the sand 😍👍🏻

Aaah, my fascination with the sand dunes continues ... Snap shot from last Sunday, a glorious spring day, blue skies all around, in the horizon, an intense blue-coloured ocean hitting the endless golden sand beach and for the rest of the capture, the majestic golden sand dunes of Maspalomas. Like I said, years go by and yet my fascination with such sublime landscape continues ... 😍👍🏻

I wasn't too sure whether I wanted to share this snap shot when I took it a few weeks back. The caption for it is "Noting is safe". Why? Well, not even a protected natural reserve like Maspalomas Dunes is safe from the stupidity of certain individuals (hooligans) being an arsehole with what's not theirs. That's not a spot you can paint some graffiti on just because, you know, you fancy being an idiot. Whoever did that can right f*ck *off ! 🤬

(In the capture you can see Maspalomas Dunes with the gentle ocean in the horizon, blending in nicely with the blue skies and making up for quite a contrast with the golden sand. Pure bliss and a lovely way to start the weekend! 😍👍🏻)

Whoaaah! 😳🤯👍🏻 Yesterday evening's power walk along the boulevard from Maspalomas sand dunes allowed me to capture the sunset with some dramatic shades of red, blending nicely with the golden sand, the dark blue of the ocean, the odd clouds in the horizon and no-one to be seen around. Pure bliss 🥰 I am a very lucky and privileged human being, I tell ya 👌🏻😜
