I know folks usually do #thicktrunktuesday but for some reason I always think of it as #thicktrunkthursday. And anyway, is there really a wrong day for pictures of trees?

Looking down the length of a huge driftwood log, sitting atop a jumble of other driftwood on the beach. It's grain makes beautiful wavy patterns.

Seen near the TN / NC border last month. This is part of just one massive pile of logs pulled from the French Broad River following last year's hurricane. The amount of damage to that region is staggering.

A wide shot captures a striking silhouette of a large, bare tree against a vibrant sunset sky. The tree, with its thick, gnarled trunk and numerous tangled branches reaching upwards, dominates the centre of the frame. Its dark, intricate network of limbs contrasts sharply with the warm hues of the sky behind it.
The sky is a gradient of colours, transitioning from a soft, pale orange near the horizon where the sun is setting (partially obscured by the tree's branches), to deeper shades of orange and pink higher up, eventually fading into a dusky grey-blue towards the top of the frame. Wispy clouds are scattered across the sky, catching some of the warm light.
Below the tree, the ground is visible as a dark, slightly uneven surface, possibly a field or grassy area. The very bottom of the frame shows a hint of green vegetation, suggesting the beginning of the landscape. The overall mood is serene and slightly melancholic.

Fortunately, the poor #tree was given first aid immediately after the collision. (Prize question: who crashed into whom?)

The trunk of a thick tree is wrapped in a grey plastic tarpaulin held in place by black cords. Beneath and above this bandage you can see injuries on the trunk. These "open wounds" were caused by a car that crashed into the tree.

Hier haben wir es mit einer winterharten Sorte des Losbaums zu tun.
In Asien und im tropischen Afrika gibt es bis zu 280 Arten, die keinen großen Frost vertragen können.
Dieser ist ein Baumartiger Strauch von tropischer
Erscheinung. Bis zu 20 cm lange dunkelgrüne Blätter und weiße
Blüten mit rotem Kelch, die leicht duften.
Auffallend die blauen, von roten Kelchblättern umgebenen Früchte.

This is the most magnificent horse chestnut tree that I have seen in a long time. Absolute beauty.

Sitting in the middle of a wet woodland, it completely dominates its location. Wonderful. And massive!

If you zoom in you can see people under the canopy for some scale.

Enormous - and beautiful - horse chestnut tree standing out in a small woodland. In front of it is a wet green meadow of reeds, horsetail and tall clumps of daffodils. Majestic.
