#transitioning

Transitioning can be more than moving from one end of a binary to the other.

There are all sorts of ways that nonbinary people transition. Some journeys are essentially the same as binary women and men. Others take a winding path that includes some changes and not others. Still more will go through cycles of change.

There are as many ways to go through a nonbinary transition as there are nonbinary people, and all are real options.

You can transition to any extent as a nonbinary person (as can other trans people).

You can change nothing at all beyond your label. You can take all the steps that trans men or women may typically take. You can try a mix of it all.

It's your journey and you get to decide how to pursue it.

Okay well, since I have a little more visibility now (hi, thanks for being here, love you :Blobhaj_Heart_Trans:), could y'all kindly point my ADHD ass to the manual on how to be a girl?¹ :blobfoxpleading: (see edit for specifics)

I don't know how I come off, but I am anything but calm and collected right now and could use a little direction.
:blobfoxsweating::trans_fire:

I am likely the most unprepared cracked egg you've ever met.

Edit: To narrow the scope, the biggest unknown to me is the actual medical process of transitioning. Like, I don't know who to talk to or how to start receiving care/consultation and I don't know what pitfalls to look out for. I would love general advice on how/where to begin and start building my timeline. Oh and I'm hovering above poverty line (as many are :blobfoxupsidedown:) so that's something else I need to navigate (though I think my state is good for it).

Happy to chat about this all privately via Signal or Matrix if that's easier. Just DM to coordinate.

Edit edit: Sorry for me trying to be funny getting in the way, I tend to deflect difficult to process things with humor.

¹ joke, I know there's no one source

To achieve permanent hair removal, there is only one FDA-approved option — electrolysis. This procedure is done by a technician who inserts a thin probe into the follicle and applies electric current. The produced heat damages the follicle’s ability to produce new hair.

The process of transitioning can be difficult and imperfect. It's often painful, complicated, and far from a linear process. For nonbinary people it's even harder to find anything resembling an end point.

It's much the same as any kind of personal growth. There's pain and unexpected turns in the journey, but it's an experience that ultimately adds to your character.

Embrace the wilderness of it.

Today we'll talk about the positive side and will figure out why and how you can benefit from transitioning in adulthood or at an older age. There is no absolute answer, but maybe you'll feel connected to some of the points I'll talk about today.

If you need permission to look into medically transitioning as a nonbinary person, I'm giving it to you.

Gender affirming care is something that belongs to you, too (regardless of the various legal barriers you may need to overcome).

You deserve a chance to explore and feel happy in your skin.
