#CrimateEmergency: Human-caused warming tripled death toll of European heat waves this Summer, new report shows
The #ClimateCrisis is a public health and #HumanRights crisis.
There are limits to adaptation, we must phase out #FossilFuel use NOW.

Sure, you and I would. But you do realize just how Dutch you sound ??
We, in the Netherlands, are a [public] transport RICH country. You do know that some [public transport] POOR countries don't havve that luxury. Some are so bought by the #FossilFuel industry that they even ripped out transport-rails to give the streets [away] to the all mighty car !
Das ist ein Satz, der mir sehr gefällt - aus einem Newsletter von Hannah Ritchie.

Carbon emissions from oil giants directly linked to dozens of deadly heatwaves for first time https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2025/sep/10/link-oil-giants-heatwaves-research-legal-liability
Scientists link more than 200 severe #heatwaves to #fossilfuel producers' #pollution
They include #oil, #coal and #cement companies, as well as some countries. The scientists found as much as a quarter of the heat waves would be "virtually impossible" without the #climate pollution from major fossil fuel producers. Some individual fossil fuel companies, such as #ExxonMobil, #Chevron and #BP, had #emissions high enough to cause some of the more extreme heat waves.

Fossil-fuel firms receive US subsidies worth $31bn each year, study finds https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2025/sep/09/fossil-fuels-subisidies-study
15 major oil companies topped $172.8 billion in 2023. A report finds that President Trump’s flagship legislation will grant $40 billion in new subsidies to the oil and gas industry over the next decade.

US #FossilFuel subsidies have more than doubled since 2017 to (what is surely an underestimate) $31 billion.
Thirty one billion fucking dollars to profit a few and destroy the world in the process.

Use of fossil fuels could begin to drop in about five years' time thanks to China’s rapid adoption of renewables and its increasing reliance on electricity, clean-energy think tank Ember has said. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/environment/2025/09/09/energy/china-green-push-global-fossil/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #environment #energy #china #renewables #fossilfuel #wind #solar
This is outrageous, unacceptable behavior. The #FossilFuel cabal runs these idiots. They and their ilk are taking down the planet. #Boosted

“BREAKING: protesters violently removed from Farage conference speech”

"political “pragmatism” is a dangerous form of climate delay. By framing urgent action as “extreme” & steady-as-she-goes policies as “pragmatic”, leaders are protecting the #FossilFuel #StatusQuo when we need rapid, transformative #change."
A prudent planetary limit for geologic carbon storage
Geologically storing #carbon is a key strategy for abating #emissions from #FossilFuel's and durably removing #CarbonDioxide (#CO2) from the #atmosphere. However, the storage potential is not unlimited. Here we establish a prudent planetary limit of around 1,460 (1,290–2,710) Gt of CO2 storage through a risk-based, spatially explicit analysis of #CarbonStorage in sedimentary basins. We show that only stringent near-term gross emissions reductions can lower the risk of breaching this limit before the year 2200. Fully using geologic storage for carbon removal caps the possible global temperature reduction to 0.7 °C (0.35–1.2 °C, including storage estimate and climate response uncertainty).

@anna_lillith And very nice, too. Global #investment in #fossilfuel #production, meanwhile, came to $1.148 trillion, according to the #IEA (https://www.iea.org/reports/world-energy-investment-2025/executive-summary). See this, meanwhile, on global fossil fuel #subsidies: https://www.imf.org/en/Topics/climate-change/energy-subsidies#top.
