I used Google Earth extensively while researching my thread on hillside letters in the Bay Area. It was invaluable for searching the hills near local high schools for unreported hillside letters and numbers. And while searching those digital hills I kept on finding feral labyrinths, perched like ephemeral crowns, on their crests. Which was unexpected, and more than a little intriguing... #sfba 🧵

CHP is out in force along #Highway9 in Saratoga, after neighbors complained about reckless driving along that highway.

I should have driven Hwy 9 and Skyline more in years past. The route is now infested by reckless—and frankly unskilled—drivers. People are crossing double-yellows to pass, and cutting in through blind corners, and it scares the shit out of me. Alice’s has become unbearably crowded at lunchtime on weekends.

I think part of the reason for this are Instagram accounts that post videos that glorify risky behavior along the route.

Wow, I know this guy. Dan Carpenter was very active in the #sfba #cars community. Pretty shocking to learn that he’s charged with leading a group of people to scam insurance companies for commissions. I guess that’s how he afforded all those cars.

These photos are from a hike I did a couple of days ago in Sierra Vista Open Space Reserve, in the mountains just northeast of San Jose, California. This time of year, near the end of the wet season, the hills are deep green; they'll change to golden brown by early to mid May.
