Using tariff revenue (supposedly meant to pay down the national debt) to pay off farmers (who need a bailout because of the effects of tariffs)—

Like running around in a hamster wheel and getting nowhere.

A weird new ‘robbing Peter to pay Paul’ to avoid more chaos.

And the government’s not even open to make it happen 😂

(And well done to Ollie Smith for managing to adhere to BBC editorial guidelines and write an entire article about how we're being shafted by Brexit without once mentioning Brexit: can't be easy)

EU to double steel tariffs amid influx of Chinese imports.

The EU on Tuesday announced it was planning to double tariffs on foreign steel and halve the volume allowed into the bloc before duties are imposed.

The unveiling of the proposals by industry commissioner Stephane Sejourne comes as Europe's steel sector struggles to contend with competition from China, which dwarves the bloc's production.

I appreciate there are many Americans here, and it’s not all Americans, but the day-to-day general understanding from Americans regarding tariffs is so unreal.

When I get an order via Etsy for the US I need to message and ask for an email address and telephone number for my courier, so they can sort out the tariff payment. At least once a day, I will be called greedy or a scammer because I should be paying the tariffs, not them.

Lovely to watch the Wall Street Journal rip the Orange Felon a new arsehole at regular intervals. What if Murdoch's WSJ becomes the only media org not to wilt before his assault on the media - that would be a turnout.

"You knew it was coming. As President Trump’s tariffs damage farmers and businesses across the U.S., the victims are besieging the Administration for relief. The long lines at the Commerce and Agriculture departments are the latest proof of self-destructive tariff folly."
