Y⃒̸̷̝̜̙ͥͥͥngmar<p>Found another trap in the bottom of a nesting box under some hay 😬 </p><p>Luckily someone had already triggered it (and lost the trigger plate). Found it in the hay and put it back together. Seems to work fine.</p><p>Probably for foxes, who do like to steal eggs and chickens both.</p><p><a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Trap" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Trap</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Homestead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Homestead</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Cleanup" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cleanup</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Snap" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Snap</span></a></p>

Y⃒̸̷̝̜̙ͥͥͥngmar<p>Current sidequest (one of many): Clearing out this old solar powered chicken raising shed and then dismantling it.</p><p>It was put where the sun shines, so the big windows would heat up the baby chickens inside, much like a greenhouse, but more of a yellow fluff house.</p><p>For that same reason, it's also in the middle of the yard and absolutely in the way.</p><p>Not much material, it's mostly made of windows and I've already sorted most of the stuff inside.</p><p><a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Homestead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Homestead</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Cleanup" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cleanup</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Junk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Junk</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Shed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Shed</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Farm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Farm</span></a></p>

Got a magnetic pickup roller today, and I'm damn glad I did!

This was just an aimless 2 minute walk around the garage. I'm sure I'll find more when I actually run an edge-to-edge grid across the driveway.

No idea how I haven't gotten a flat in the driveway already.

Picked up another of the old man's stick collections.

Mostly sauna fuel, two oak pieces that were almost intact apart from the bottom and a long but crooked spruce round beam.

Also more Virginia creeper that I ripped out with prejudice.

Cleared away the rocks too, so the mower can get around next spring. Tall growth is bad, the siding needs air.

Today is not going according to my wishes or vague plans. Trying not to stress out over it & I'm losing myself in thoughts over how to simplify & organise next year's bullet journal.
This spiralled into, how can I get back on the, dealing with housework & cleaning wagon, as at some point I completely fell off. So, major paralysis on how or where to start.

Toying with the idea of introducing a, do one small thing everyday either before or immediately after breakfast, so that it's done.
Just small things like, clean the bathroom sink or pick up some random crap that I never tidied up.

If I can persuade myself to write down that I did it & when & then do the same for the following times that things get done, I might eventually have a realistic roster of things. Just need to remember to keep it flexible. If the day the floor need vacuuming I'm not up to it, swap it for something else or just shunt everything along a day.
As long as I don't fall into the trap of shunting things along indefinitely, I might be okay.

Hey #Fediverse and #Mastodon, please rate my new desk layout!

Did some cleaning up, moved my big desktop out of the way onto the floor (don’t use it much anymore), dusted a bit, moved my old mic, keyboard and mouse for my desktop and hard drive mounter out too. A big cleanup under my desk to untangle cables as well. Very much #Mac / #MacBook / #iPhone / #Apple decorated… except for my #HP laptop.

What do you lovely people think?

Some work near the front gate. Managed to extract those concrete beams without harming the junipers.

Now to haul them away. Only the smallest one could go on the hand cart.

Having learnt my lesson, I sifted through the soil below anything I remove and was not disappointed. Several bricks, rocks, plastic scraps, two glass perfume bottles and of course a bunch of steel (harrow tines).

Let's see if I can get the rosehip out of there alive and relocate it, too.

Treasure update:

Concrete pipe joiners, I think? The grooves are probably for some kind of seal.

Also two lengths of massive steel chain. Those were on the tow bar of the beekeeping shed, probably abandoned there after the shed was dragged into place.

And this tank that actually isn't attached to the beefy trailer frame it rests on, just sort of rolling around on there. The frame is in good shape, the wheels turn with no play in the bearings, although perhaps that's because a bunch of grass grew in them 😆

Lots more pruning and tearing out creeper tendrils. There's piles of mess for the chippertrain everywhere, but you can actually see the forest from the garden now, which is nice. 🥳

In one section you can even get to the fence! Which needs repairs, the top and middle wire have going sproinging around the garden some time ago and are now carefully deposited on top of the fence because the mower has already proved its robustness enough.

Goat pen #2 cleanup will have to wait until next year.

If you're wondering why a passionate mowing hater like me bought a giant lawnmower, this is what happens if you do not mow. Or get rid of your goats, although I think at this point you'd need at least a horse wearing body armor or maybe a herd of giraffes in chainmail trousers.

Once cleared, I can think about what to put here. For some reason planning it on a map does not work very well and I can think better when I see it cleared.

We still need to find a good spot for a sunken greenhouse, root cellar and chicken coop, although this area will probably be berry bushes and orchard.
