I was wondering what vibe coding reminds me of. And today I figured it out. It really reminds me of my experience brewing beer from Coopers brew kits: it was quick and I ended up with drinkable beer. But I knew nothing about the brewing process, the result was suboptimal, and most importantly, I didn't really have control over it.

And then at 4:33 my jaw dropped and I hope I'm misinterpreting this: Did they vibe code a health app for diabetes where the decisions come from the #OpenAI API? Which is fed by random internet data?

What’s the point of vibe coding if I still have to pay a dev to fix it? what’s the point of vibe coding if at the end of the day i still gotta pay a dev to look at the code anyway. sure it feels kinda cool while i’m typing, like i’m in some flow state or whatever, but when stuff breaks it’s just dead weight. i cant vibe my way through debugging, i cant ship anything that actually matters, and then i’m back to square one pulling out my wallet for someone who actually knows what they’re doing. makes me think vibe coding is just roleplay for guys who want to feel like hackers without doing the hard part. am i missing something here or is it really just useless once you step outside the fantasy

I made surprisingly good progress this evening with some #vibeCoding using #Gemini until I ran out of free queries. Then I switched to #ChatGPT which I suspect must be tuned to know when it's ingesting code written by Gemini because its answers were markedly improved versus starting from scratch.

I've got a #Debian container on #ProxMox now successfully retrieving low resolution snapshots from Frigate and uploading them via SSH plus doing housekeeping.

#vibecoding is making me more productive, but I'm missing out on the 'make mistakes and learn' phase. It's just extremely easy to just hit run and see if it works without reviewing code first (cause why waste my time when it doesnt even work) - the most procrastination-friendly approach.
