Whitby is a picturesque coastal town in North Yorkshire, England, known for its rich history, stunning landscapes, and connections to literature and folklore.
Historically, Whitby was a key whaling and fishing port, and it still has a strong maritime heritage today. Whitby Harbour is a vibrant area with fishing boats, seafood restaurants.
The ruins of the 7th-century Abbey sit atop the East Cliff, offering breathtaking views. The abbey played a role in the Synod of Whitby (664 AD), which helped establish the date of Easter in the Christian calendar.
