@logan1891.bsky.social #xmpp es un protocolo descentralizado, como ActivityPub (Mastodon) pero en mensajería. Es cifrado de extremo a extremo y forma parte del fediverso. Hay muchos servidores, yo estoy en #Conversations_im aunque algunos, para principiantes, recomiendan #quicksy ya que te instalas la app y generas un usuario con tu número de teléfono, que se convierte en tu nombre de usuario haciendo que funcione muy parecido al #WhatsApp.

I just updated the quicksy.im server to Trixie and #ejabberd 24.12

This gives #Quicksy users access to enhanced security features such as channel binding and allows for faster reconnects.

Quick tip for server admins: If you are following a similar upgrade path make sure to add mod_auth_fast to your modules section.

Check via 'Server Info' in #Conversations_im if that worked. Login mechanism should show something like HT-… (Requires going into airplane mode once; Only active from 2nd login)

Someone or something at Google started to hallucinate that #Quicksy is collecting the user's email address and would not approve the app update until we declared that in our data policy.

The sign up process in Quicksy hasn't changed in 7 years. I don't even know where the user would enter their email address and I'm not aware of an API that collects this automatically.

Mi servidor (jabjab.de) sigue con la resolución de mierda de hace veintipico años... van a probar el servidor de #Quicksy. Que siendo gestionado por @daniel seguramente sí tenga para subir avatares en alta resolución.

My parents use #Quicksy and #Prav to communicate with me on #XMPP for around 3 years now. Think of how significant that has been in terms of privacy.

Before @praveen told me about Quicksy (and @prav was not a thing before 2022), I tried to onboard them to #Matrix and XMPP using Element and Conversations respectively.

However, the on boarding was complicated for them (people are not used to remembering usernames and passwords anymore).

Das was du gerne hättest ist in eine Richtung schon möglich, du kannst deine Telefonnummer ins #quicksy registry eintragen lassen und dann von quicksy Nutzern gefunden werden: https://quicksy.im/#get-listed
In die andere Richtung hilft halt nur ausprobieren ob +49xxxxxxxxxx@quicksy.im existiert, keine Ahnung ob es einen client gibt, der das Adressbuch ausliest und automatisch probt.

@cryptgoat Spannenderweise dokumentiere ich gerade die Services, die ich fuer meine Familie hoste, darunter einen XMPP Server. Natuerlich dokumentiere ich nicht den Server, sondern #Conversations_im und #Quicksy
Wuenschte ich mir, mit allen Leuten darueber kommunizieren zu koennen? Klar.
Bin ich schon froh, dass unsere Schule und Einzelfallhilfe ueber Signal statt WA erreichbar ist? Auf jeden Fall.
Geh ich den Leute unnoetig auf den Sack? Fsck no. (Kein Vorwurf, falls es so klingen sollte)
